Virgin London Marathon Part 2 – Company sponsors

Wow, time has really flown since my last blog post was written and released in March. I have now run over 120 times reaching up to 15 miles twice now. The training really has ramped up, along with the weather. Now is the time that the training becomes harder as I negotiate the heat and the time to ensure I keep at my best health and fitness. I can also highly recommend Katie-Lauren at PC Physiotherapy who has been treating my hip and IT band issues (yes running is an expensive sport ;0)

My main reason for writing this blog is to celebrate reaching over £1000 inclusive of gift aid, so far for the amazing charity created in memory of Harry.

What has helped me to reach this level is the many friends and family and supporters who have sponsored me in my training efforts BUT also to 2 amazing local business owners who have made large donations in return for me displaying their logos on my training tops and actual running tee shirt that I’ll be wearing on race day!

I really hope you enjoy reading about them and why they created their unique and interesting local businesses.

Aminas Flavours by Amina Rahman.

I am a dedicated person with a high drive to succeed in life. I enjoy running and going to the gym, and the knowledge and perspective that working out gives me has strengthened my mind and developed my confidence levels.

I also love to cook and experiment with different flavours of the world! In fact I run my own business that now allows me to share my culinary skills with the outside world :)

The reason why I started Aminas Flavours is due to the amount of requests I kept getting from the NHS, as I cooked over 1000 meals during lockdown 1 just to ensure the key workers were able to have a home cooked meal whilst working to fight Covid-19.

My meals aren’t like the more established foods you will find in the Indian restaurants. They are cooked the traditional way but with a twist. This twist is what makes AminasFlavours...AminasFlavours ☺️

I have created a range of dishes from starters and sides to delicious mains and put them together into set weekly menus which are always shared across my social media pages. Please take a look at my pages to see about placing and receiving orders. The process is very simple and my reviews speak for themselves.

Walnut Tree Leather by Andy

My name is Andy and I have a beautiful wife, Rachael and amazing son, Tristan who I love more than anything in this world. I am the founder and Director of Walnut Tree Leather, a small family-owned and run leather goods maker based in Milton Keynes.

Life is complicated enough and I genuinely appreciate the simple things in life and I hope that it shows in my work. My designs are purposely very simple and clean whilst being slightly rugged and practical.

It all started when I bought an expensive genuine leather wallet from a large well-known UK department store. Within a few weeks, the stitching started to come undone on one side. What I found surprised and honestly annoyed me. Inside the wallet between the leather and the lining was several layers of newspaper. I have since discovered that this is a common (mal)practice to make the wallet feel thicker and more expensive.

Having always been a practical person who likes working with my hands I tried my hand at leatherwork in an effort to create my own. I progressed to making more and more complicated items. Being a perfectionist at heart it took several years until I actually had a product I was truly happy with. During this time friends and colleagues had all been asking for bespoke and custom items.

It was at this point that Walnut Tree Leather was born. I started the company with a view to lovingly create, by hand, traditional leather goods with timeless style and appeal and also ones that would last a lifetime.

We currently handmake a classic and timeless range of products including cardholders, wallets, journals and belts. We only use premium full-grain leather which develops the most beautiful patina, the hallmark of only the highest quality leathers, which means any product will only get better with age.

We are also excited to announce that we are currently developing several new ranges which include a wide range of camera straps as well as a new selection of handmade kits which will allow people to create their own unique products at home.

More about my business, the guiding principles I hold dear and the products I create can be found on my website www.walnuttreeleather.co.uk and social media pages.
